Mid-Season Review

So how do the Irish grade mid way through the season? Why the excitement?

  1. I would take a 4-2 record for the rest of the season. I think you are way too infatuated with the passing game. ND could easily take the Washington game for granted and lay an egg. Don't forget the opposition is improving every week and ND really hasn't improved over the past 3 weeks. ND could just as easily go 2-4 for the rest of the season.

  2. They haven't improved over the last 3 weeks? C'mon, you can't be serious. They were on the verge of cracking the top 25 with a win against UNC. I'd argue they'll be in the top 25 with wins over Washington and Pitt. 4-2 or even 3-3 over the next 6 games is completely acceptable, depending on how they compete. 6-6 would be unacceptable.

  3. All ND's first half opponents lost today. BC is looking as strong as last year. Pitt blew out Navy. Just one loss to a team ND is suppose to beat in the second half and it will be a 6-6 season and we all will be disappointed. I hope ND takes this extra week to make a significant improvement in the way they are playing. I think Weis understands ND's precarious position at this time.

  4. I feel much better about the Washington game now that ND has a new kicker. I feel this is a good omen. Another good thing Weis has done. Now if Clausen can protect the ball, the second half could be better than expected. Washington is the first step. It will be interesting to see how the team responds. Go IRISH!
