Charlie's flaws have been well documented over the years. At this turning point I'd like to point out a few of his strengths: He is hard working, an excellent recruiter. He ran a clean program and graduated players. He is a good family man. He showed toughness enduring physical pain and pushing on with the job at hand. He demonstrated willingness to change. He strikes me as honest. He just could not put all the pieces together. I for one wish him well.
I would disagree. He did not demonstrate a willingness to change. He said himself that he coaches the same way every week. A good coach doesn't do that because there are so many variables that go into coaching from the next opponent to your team's psyche to the weather.
Unfortunately we continue to be fundamentally unsound..poor coverage skills, terrible tackling, below average blocking, too many stupid penalties..especially at crucial times, etc. Bottom-line, with the supposed quality of recruiting over the last 3-4 years, we should be much playing better than we are.. For the last 2 years, we have been absolutely awful in November...the excuses have run out.. As much as I hate to say it, a drastic change must be made..now!!!
