Is there optimism in the air for the 2009 Irish?

Not much to get excited about as a result of the Blue-Gold game. But is there optimism for the 2009 season, and if so, why?

  1. Glad to hear you guys again, I missed your comments. Everyone has got to like the new coaches. Like you said, just having new coaching blood has got to be good plus they seem to have more energy and are all about teaching. From what I saw in the spring game, Young picks up the quick end quite a bit better, a very good sign. There is a lot more depth all around which also bodes well for ND. On the negative side, Clusen still stares down his receivers and may well become another Ron Paulus. I also believe there will continue to be a different standard in regards to holding for ND and that is always a big factor in the poor perceived performance of both the offensive and defensive ND lines.

  2. I do think this is the year Clausen will either emerge as a great college QB, or be labeled a dissappointment. To his defense, I don't think Tebow would've done any better with the line we've had the last 2 years.

  4. Did you guys catch ESPN today 15 May? They said Clausen had a weak arm, bad foot work and was scared to get hit. Didn't even mention the usual complaint of lack of leadship. One of the talking heads said ND would be 9-3 and the other said 8-4. Let's hope Clausen and ND prove them wrong.
