Does Book come down to earth?

Book is arguably one of the top 10 QB's in college football according to his QB rating. Is it going to continue or does Va Tech end up being the first team to force a pick?

  1. About RB Armstrong's knee, I can say from experience that you can scrape your knee and if dirt... gets in there and it's not cleaned out quickly and thoroughly, infection can easily set in. You ignore it and the infection grows. Next, pain. Lots of pain everytime you put pressure on it. I know you guys weren't knocking him down, I am only writing because I have some direct experience with this.

    1. Interesting. It clearly was serious enough to keep him out. Unfortunate, 'cause with him in there, it puts a lot of pressure on D when fresh legs keep shuffling in and out.

  2. Hi there.. Welcome back Ed! I know a ton of Hokies heading up that way for the game and already talking trash. They have a "Beamer" Statue being unveiling that night.

It is going to be a tough road game and that atmosphere is going to be nuts.. That fan base is absolutely crazy and it will be loud. This will make their season and folks will forget the ODU debacle.

To have ND's Defense traveling is the key and that always will be the difference. Worry about the Stripes.. It seems like we do not get the calls on our guys rushing the passer.

Go Irish.. I think it will be close game.

  3. FYI.. I heard this being talked about.. Kelly is 3-10 on the road verse Rank Teams. Last win on the road was against Temple (a 10 win team that year)..

    1. Yes, good point. It will be interesting to see how we handle the Miami hangover, that quite frankly was brought up umpteen times this week and if we learned anything from it. My guess is the difference this year is our D up front is stout!

  4. Great win and in that environment, which was absolutely nuts..

Kelly is now 4-10 and this team looks really, really good.

  5. No on coming down to earth, we may be witnessing a Joe Montana type story unfolding with Ian Book

    1. I'm going to assume you mean Joe Montana as in college career, not Pro. Anyway, if Book continues his completion rate, he could break the all-time record for a season.

  6. We really need to move on with Ian and Jurkovic, not going with these two QB s is like not playing Rocket in 88' because of an average senior.

    1. Would be interesting to know where Jurkovic stands in the eyes of the coaching staff. Is Wimbush really the 2nd best option to Book? It certainly sounds like it if you listen to what Brian Kelly has said the last 3 weeks. The way Book has been playing, you'd be crazy to go with anyone else, even for a series at this point.

  7. Agree Mike, we are to deep at our skilled positions barring injury to give Brandon any playing time. It is now obvious why Hayes went to Georgia rather than sit and watch given our depth on the defensive line. That was a win win for everyone.
