Irish increase National Championship dreams

Did the Irish just increase their chances with winning a National Championship? Freeman could be the guy! Energy level just went through the roof!

  1. History repeats? Last four coaches hired with NO head coaching experience didn't do too well. Freeman get ND recruiting and assistant coaching continuity. "Head coaches coach the assistant coaches", Dan Devine

    1. i think college football is in a different place today, ohio state oklahoma, and clemson all went this path with a coach and no head experience. I think the recruiting has become a bigger issue than years past. Time will tell, Freeman looks polished and ready but i certainly understand your point and concern with no experience.
Jack Schwarbrick is a brilliant AD and i trust his choices.

    2. I've had a change of heart on the CFP playoff, i now agree with Mike C, this is a great place to be with the Fiesta Bowl. Gundy and Oklahoma St is gonna be a very hard challenge, i see we are a 2.5 point favorite. Mike Gundy has a 10-5 bowl record which is pretty solid

  2. I'm not used to happy endings, but this is pretty damn close.
Hiring Freeman maintains the relationship with the 2022-23 commitments. Rees will run the offense with even more flexibility. Yes there will be growing pains with a new HC,
but I am so proud of the way the university and the entire staff handled this difficult situation, and pleased that everyone will remain.
I will root for every team playing LSU next year for his unforgivable and shameful exit from ND and his players.

  3. Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl and a 11-1 season, a lot to feel good about with ND football.

  4. Do you have concerns with the younger staff next year? Is Notre Dame the kind of place for on the job training for a head coach? It does appear the recruiting will be top shelf.

Thanks guys, you all do a wonderful, honest analysis throughout the season.

  5. this Oklahoma St defense is gonna test our offense, but our defense is also gonna test them. I expect the potential for a low scoring type game, with turnover and field position critical.

  6. Notre Dame has a history of poor choices as head coach especially since Devine left in 1980. 6 of the 8 have been a disaster. I never understood Wadsworth s choice after Holtz with Davie and i dont understand this one either. I really like Marcus, just not now as the head coach. This was an emotional kneejerk decision that is gonna more than likely be an issue.
I just do not undertand the decision other than its popularity.

  7. I'll always support ND football, but with the defections at signing day it doesn't look good for Freeman, If this experiment works its gonna be due to top recruiting, not schematics. ND is not kind to on the job training for a head coach. This honeymoon will end quickly if he starts off 7-6 like Davie did in 1997
